possible exposure

I had unprotected sex with someone I've been dating for about 6 months now. Aug the 1st was our 1st encounter. He did not ejaculate. We had sex again Aug 7th and he did ejaculate inside of me (female) now fast forward to today, I've been sick with a "cold" for about 2-3 days now...no fever just congestion, irritated throat, runny nose, and cough. My entire house is sick as well, it started with my son then my nephew caught it then my dad now me. I got a complete std/hiv  check up on the 3rd ...got results back the other day and everything was negative. My question is, could this cold be symptoms of ARS? Could I possibly be infected? We talked about our status and agreed to get check ups bf we started having sex...we went and later told each other our results and that we're in the clear. I'm still kind of paranoid after reading everything and seeing how I got a cold within 2 weeks after unprotected sex.

Thanks everyone. I will test at 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks. I will check back in during those times.

Cold alone, after 2 weeks of your exposure is not a valid indication of HIV infection. Symptoms are often misleading and confusing. Many common infections have symptoms are similar to those, due to ARS. And more importantly, many actually infected people remain totally asymptomatic. In many cases, symptoms are psychological, more we think about, more we feel them.

Just ignore the symptoms and get the test done, which is the only way to find out our status accurately and conclusively

Your symptoms do not relate to HIV, it may be a common infection caught by everyone in your home. Risk of HIV transmission from a couple of unprotected encounters with a single partner does not carry a significant risk, however it is not zero either.

Your partner's test report is reliable only if he did not have any exposure during the last 4-12 weeks (depending on the type of the test chosen). Therefore the only way to rule out your risk and know your status conclusively is, to get yourself tested for HIV Duo (Antibody + Antigen) ordering a 4th generation test after 4 weeks of your last exposure.

Please remember, never ever go for unprotected contact with anyone, outside your mutually committed 100% monogamous long term relationship
