So wait, guys, Teak, what are you saying? Was there a risk then.
hai, just a fact sperm does not have the virus, its the fluid surrounding the sperm itself that has the virus...anyway thats irrelevent here, what I can say is few minutes of exposure or when the semen dries, so one hour is quite long for virus to survive, there has been studies in blood, where hollow bore needles have known to trap live virus for days, also temperature is a factor at elevated temperature the virus dies, so putting all this into context I really dont think you are at risk.
metalman, I wasn't trying to be argumentative, I'm just really worried and stressed...I'm 47yo married with 3 kids; don't want to risk my family. Sorry but I was just looking for some scientific data or facts on the survival of HIV outside the body.
Thanks Lizzie...so how long does it take for HIV to become inactive or die in air if it is entraped in a drop of semen?? Won't that allow it to live ofr some amount of time?
there are no "doctors" on this forum...but there are several ppl here that can answer your questions. click on anyone's name and you can read their history / profile.
once exposed to air...hiv becomes inactive and unable to infect.
Thanks for your responses but how could there not be some small risk if a previous customer the hour before had HIV and left behind a drop of semen on the bottle?
Also, will a Dr or other professional be answering my question? I'm new and not sure how this forum works. Just really worried about my possible exposure.
Again, thanks for the answers, they are comforting but I'm just really worried.
hiv is transmitted through...
unprotected vaginal/anal intercourse
sharing iv drug works
mother to child
NOTHING that you have described, put you at risk for contracting hiv.
you dont have any risk for hiv transmission...dont think about it and move on..
