Hello, I work with the elderly in a assisted living facility.My exposure was a resident bleeding arm bleed alot on my pants and the blood went through to my skin on my leg. SHould i be concerned with hiv? do i need a hiv test? I was told that they wouldnt have a elder person at my job if he had hiv? I washed the blood off my leg. the blood had went through scrub pants.  I am so scared i could have hiv.:( how common do people get hiv from blood touching their skin? I am so worried!! thanks

hiv doesnt just "seep" through the skin on your leg.

unprotected vaginal/anal intercourse
sharing iv drug works
mother to child

Thanks..indeed i did get the blood out of my pants lol. Is it true that hiv doesnt last long outside the body? basically i should be okay if the blood hit the air right? Im just scared cuz i am getting std tested in october and dont want to find out i have hiv.:(

No you shouldn't be concern except getting the blood stain out of your pants.
