I am concerned and want to know about this.
About a week ago, I was voluteering at a non-profit medical facility as a phlebotomist.
After I drew a couple of samples from this patient, in which I have no idea whether s/he is HIV+, there were a couple of small blood drops on the table (two or three). I know it was stupid of me, but I was not thinking straight and wiped those blood drops with a alcohold pad w/o having a glove on. Once it was done, then I realize that I have a blood (think it was blood + alcohol from a alcohol pad) on the tip of my middle finger, and the nail (and in b/w). So I went to sink and washed my hands throughly using soap and disinfectants. I didn't have any open wounds, but still not sure it was before or while washing my hands, I felt a little sharp pain when you try to open a space between your skin and the nail. I am worried. If that patient was HIV+, do I have a risk of transmitting HIV? Please let me know.
