This might be ridiculous, but I'm REALLY scared. Please help?

Hello everyone,

First of all, I'd just like to warn you that my question might sound kind of strange, but I'm really paranoid about
it and would appreciate it if people wouldn't laugh at me for this.

I am an artist who works with recycled material. I'm doing a project right now that involves turning soda cans into usable scrap metal. A professor at my school said I could use some cans from his recycle bin, so I did. However, I cut my finger on one of the cut-up pieces of the can before I had the chance to wash it, and it bled. My friend told me that I could contract HIV from this, as someone with HIV could have drank from the can and their saliva might still have been on it. I have no idea how old the can was, but I would greatly appreciate if someone would tell me what my risk of contracting HIV is. I'm really scared. Please help!

HIV is not transmitted through saliva. You have no risk. Your friend needs some HIV education.

There is NO WAY that you can get HIV from this instance.

Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. Saliva is not infectious.
