Hey, I know yall pry are getting annoyed. I tested at 70 days. The guy said he cant look at the results until the Dr. does but told me it does not say retest. Is this a good thing? Second, My nodes in my neck swelled right up and my vision is pretty blurry. Any thoughts?
I am going into the Dr for a checkup. It will be 8 wks and two days. Should i test to put my mj d at ease or will this give me a false negative or positive somehow?
Elisa? And how can I tell which one is which?
Ok this helps out much more. I was reading the forums on the Dr. side but it wasnt making sense that this side was saying three and the Dr. was saying eight was difinitive and wont change.
whats Elisa? How do I know which one I had?
There are no tests marketed or sold to give a conclusive negative test result earlier than 3 months post exposure.

In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.
Welcome to our Forum. I agree with the advice you have already received on the International Forum. Current ELISA tests provide effectively definitive results eight weeks after an exposure. The continuing recommendations reflect the way that tests were evaluated for licensing and overly conservative estimates of test performance. You can believe your eight week test results – they will not change with repeat testing..
One of doctor hooks posts.
I read about all these different tests and how each is more sensitive. My friend told me there js a test that you can take to know for absolute certainty no matter how many days after exposure. Is this true?
Thats a good idea and test at 12 weeks for a final result--all the best.
I am actually scheduled to see a psychiatrist because if all this.
a test at 7 weeks is highly indicative of your status and unlikely to change. follow up at 3 months for that conclusive result.
What does not conclusive mean. Not 100 percent? How much is it at 7 weeks? Everyone tells me Im fine and i need to see a psychiatrist.
No it doesn't take multiple times to contract HIV. You can contract HIV on the first exposure.
I don't know. Im up at all hours of the night worried sick about this. Its super scary. I read the posts that the doc was posting in and he said it would take multiple times with one person to get it? Is this true? I have a million questions that doctors just shrug off and hand me clariton pills. I didn't think the site was the same way but apparently if i ask too many questions i get my thread closed. My apologies.
Generic? Well what would you like other than the truth?
Ok thanks. Y'all give great advice. But it seems Im just getting the generic answers. Thanks.
I believe it was answered in the very first post that you received.
You can obtain your conclusive test result 3 months post your last unprotected sex.
So like i asked its just here i need to be worried with?
3 months post expousre will be conclusive, not 7 weeks.
?? I know y'all don't like lots of post g but isn't that what your here for? So i narrowed it down to the last girl if the three months is right and we had sex four times in two weekends. Is this enough?
I have had one encounter after august23. is every one before that good if i tested negative?
