Going on Medicare

My Cobra coverage will be ending at the end of Feb and Medicare will begin in march.    My coverage with my current insur company is very very good.   I am currently disabled and 32 years old.

It appears to me that Medicare is going to be more costly to me as I will have to pay more out of pocket for each Doctor visit.   Everytime I try to look on the medicare website and figure it out , i get more frustrated.

Is it true that if you are under 65 you can get  a supplimental policy?

Are the medicare advantage plans any good?

thanks

Dear MICH2604,

You are welcome. Medicare will cover you regardless. It depends on the conversion plan if they will cover you once you are Medicare eligible.

Thanks for the info.   Can I be on Medicare and the conversion policy if it is available to me?

Dear MICH2604,

If you like your current Carrier, find out if they offer conversion plans, which is offered by some (not all) Carriers, after you exhaust COBRA.

Your other choice is to apply for a Medicare Supplement plan. Make sure if you choose Medicare Supplement option, to apply within your open enrollment period.
