Acute Myocardial Infraction

I am 47 years of age and regularly smoking 3 to 4 cigarate for the last 25 years. Recently I had a severe pain in my rigt and middle of my chest on 4th Dec 2010 while i was playingTT and got urgent medication immediately and diagnosed asAcute Myocardial Infraction.  Later on 7th Angio was done and found that Mid LAD has 50% lesion in 20 to 25 mm length. The lesion morphology was type B2 with moderate thrombus in it.  Doctors advised Medical Treatment and prescribed blood thinners (Asprin and Clopidogrel) and also advised CBC platelets in every 3 months. Kindly guide me the DOsandDOn'ts.

As Ed suggests, just quit smoking.  You can eat all the good foods, take all the good medications, but as soon as you light up a cigarette you take away all the benefits of the medications and good foods.  Smoking with heart disease is comparable to hitting yourself in the head with a hammer, then wondering why your head hurts.  Millions of us have quit the habit and saved their lives.  It's not easy, but can be done.

Clopidogrel is a short term medication, there is no evidence supporting benefits after a period of one year. Your big problem is the cigarettes, even one a day is no good for your arteries. I know it's hard, but you need to stop smoking and this is your wake up call. You will probably see a good improvement in blood pressure and oxygen levels when you stop, as well as feeling like you have more energy. If you have a lot of stress in your life, find ways to either manage it or rid it. As stated, exercise is good, a minimum of a 30 min walk every day, and eat healthy food, lots of fruit/veg and not too much fat. You don't mention cholesterol levels? did they do a lipid profile? Maybe they feel your cholesterol is low enough.

It seems that after treatment now you do not have chest pain. You did not had pain even before this treatment. If your lvef is more than 40 % then you may manage with medicines. Please check your chlorostrol levels and keep them within limlts by proper food and exercise.Keep regular watch on these values.Be religious in food and exercise.
