Angina or something else

Hi friends,
My father complains of some sort of chest burn when he walks though it subsides after 5-10 minutes of initial walk.

Three years back he had a bit high BP. He had a TMT which was positive for reversible ischaemia, post which he had angiography also.
the result was 30-40% blockage in couple of arteries which i guess is not a warning situation. He started taking medicines BUT after that he started complaining of some sort of chest burn when he walks though it subsides after 5-10 minutes of initial walk.

Now in last three years he had some control on his diet but the problem of chest burn while initial walking still persists. He had a TMT again which was positive again.Doctor is again suggesting to do angiography but we are little apprehensive about it.

The chest burn which he complains doesn't match the pain which other angina patients has written about in these forums , in short there is no definite heaviness or congestion.
Meanwhile he complained of frozen left shoulder but it is improving after some massage and exercise.
Sugar is also on borderline.

Can anybody suggest what should we do next, shall we go for angiography again ?

Yes the chest burn can disappear. The treadmill test ( your TMT) was positive; ask the doctor his confidence level for these positive findings and where he believes the ischemia source is from by EKG interpretation. Angiography is the way to go to avoid second guessing narrowing, blockages and potential for heart attack.Joan.

Thanks for your valuable comments,
but actually this Chest burn is not there if he walks briskly or exercises after that.

can we have any other method apart from angiography to know whether blockage is there as TMT can be misleading at times

Chest burn is exactly the description for one type of angina that I get with exertion. In the past I could work thru it; not anymore. He needs to follow his doctor's advice. This is not something to second guess. Joan.

When you say it subsides after 5-10 minutes, is this if he stops? or does he actually keep walking and it subsides?
