Am sorry to ask hun, but where did this info about "If you had a heart attack, it does not show up on an ekg" ?

The reason i ask is because this is not true, My cardio told me all about an ekg also called ecg, when ever a problem arises with the heart it will defo show, it only ever shows a positive negative, where then more tests are needed.

Anxiety can cause so many problems, when your mind is focused on a certain part of your body, you will feel more symptoms, ofcourse because your mind is concentrating on that one part!

Palpitations are amongst the most common symptoms of anxiety, i do agree though that doctors just dismiss people with anxiety, but some don't, they will sit down and reasure the patient, which in itself sometimes is enough, but when you have health anxiety it seems so overwhelming that no one is taking you seriousley..  Ofcourse get a second opinion if your not feeling comfortable with the first..

Heart flutters are just the worst symptom and i for one get them, and they scare the crap out of me, but they have never killed me, i am still here, they are just benign pvcs and pacs, which i am sure yours are too.  An ekg would of showed a prob with your heart, which would of made the doc do more tests.. Please don't worry....

Carlos, it is completely your choice weather to take the zoloft or now, i would recomend it to you, give it a month along with some cbt and you will feel so much better, if you don't like it then stop it.. It wont do you no harm honest, you may get the odd side affect, but you will with any med.

You can defo get aches from anxiety, because when your mind is weak so will your body be.  You mind is a very powerfull thing, and it controls your body.. When your mind feels good so will the rest of you.. go with it sweety, give it a go..

Big hugs

Your story sounds exactly like mine. I will tell you, however, that just because you have heart flutters (palpitations) does not mean there is anything wrong with your heart. Those are definitely anxiety-related I can tell you from experience. I used to have panic attacks on a regular basis and the rest of the time constant anxiety that I would have another one. Needless to say, I had heart flutters all the time. Sometimes I'd have 3 or 4 in a row and I was sure I was going to die that minute. But after I calmed down my panic attacks I started having flutters less and less and now I hardly have them at all and when I do I always notice that it was because I was just feeling anxious. So if it was heart related it seems to me that they only would have gotten worse.

It is really starting to annoy me how doctors are about this. When I first went to my doctor they did the same thing to me and handed me a bottle of Zoloft. I was like, wow really I didn't know I was depressed. According to most doctors, it seems, anxiety can only be a symptom of depression and nothing else, which is so not true. Also, heart problems a lot of the time do not even show up on EKGs, especially in women. In fact, 45 % of people who are having a heart attack will not even show that on an EKG! So it is really amazing to me that when someone goes to the doctor with heart symptoms (yes anxiety is one of them!) and just because the EKG comes back normal that they tell you there is nothing wrong with you! To me that is, or should be, malpractice. It is completely negligent in my eyes.

Well, anyway, I am not trying to scare you. Just giving you my honest opinion. Honestly I don't know what to tell you because I am going through the same thing as you and have been for the past year and a half. I've been to three different doctors and none of them help. To me, they act very dismissive. I have an appointment with the first doctor again tomorrow in the hopes I can try to convey my problems to him a little better. If not, I'm going to have to start searching for another new doctor. I am not going to just ignore my symptoms because they choose to.

However, yours may very well be anxiety just from the symptoms you've described. My advice is don't let this get out of hand or any worse than it is. I don't know if our cases are similar but my doctors have told me that I just have anxiety too. Zoloft didn't work for me, but it might for you. Also, see if you can get a benzodiazepine, like klonopin, because that is what helped my anxiety the best. Then if you can get your anxiety symptoms to go away and you don't have any other symptoms, then you probably just have anxiety and not heart problems. Don't worry though right now if you can because that will only make things worse.
