Blood clots in lounges - inr is not changing.

Hi, My husband broke his ankle 2 weeks ago, he had a surgery . One week after the surgery he felt pain in his chest, he couldn't breath and he was coughing with blood. We went to the emergency , they did an XRay and CT test and discovered  blood clots in both lounges- pulmonary embolism. He stayed in the hospital for 3 days and was discharged five days ago. after they did eco and dopler tests . Now he is taking 5 mg coumadin and fragmin  injection a day.
Today he went to the lab to do a blood test for int rate, but unfortunately his inr rate is the same as 5 days ago           ( when he was released from the hospital).
Can someone advise  why inr rate is not going up?
Is it a correct treatment for his problem ?
Please advise what should we do.

Till now, he has a pain in his left side , he has a problem to breath and he is still coughing with blood.
He never had this problem, he is 37 .

I'm going through the same thing right now, but my clots are in the left Atrial Chamber.  I spent 11 days in the hospital for that and also kidney failure, home yesterday.  I'm being treated aggressively.  I'd second the motion to go to the ER at once.  This is nothing to think about.  Go.  Keep us informed.

Nataly, this is a very serious situation.  Call the doctor's office and report what is going on.  Tell them he is coughing blood.  Like tomorrow--unless he has trouble tonight.  If that happens, call 911.

I'm not joking.
