Breathing difficulty starting 6 weeks after surgery

I started having breathing difficulting  approx 6 weeks after surgery. I work out in a gym 4 days a week. I had to slow down my speeds because of the breathing problem. I am taking faster shorter breaths even in a rest position. I breath better sitting or standing rather than lying down. I'm not experiencing any chest pains like i did prior to surgery.
Is there a book i can get related to breathing exercises ?

I had shortness of breath caused by medication about 2 wk before AVR, meds stopped, SOB stopped.  A couple of weeks after AVR, SOB returned, seemed very serious, ended up in ER.  Taking NO meds that might cause it since it started again.  Now, at 3 months, I wonder if there is still a chance it will clear up--or if I'll have it forever.  I've heard of people having it 2-3 years; yours (juan) is the first I've heard up to 5 years.

Accidentally while checking for something else, I was Dx this week with sleep apnea.  Now I wonder if my breathing patterns changed about the time of surgery, and the changes show up as SOB and apnea.  This concerns me because it could be a neuro deficit after surgery.

What do you think?  Have you heard of sleep apnea after OHS?  What have you been told about why you have SOB for so long?

I'll hope for a reply--Thanks.

I've had breathing problems ever since open heart surgery 5 years ago - particularly at night when lying down. I'm wondering if it's scar tissue (adhesions) like President Clinton experienced?
