Chest Pain @ 28?

I'm a 28 year old HS spanish teacher. I have been have pain in my left chest and left arm for some time now but the pains have been increasing in frequency, duration and severity. It started with just a pain in my chest and has recently spread to my left arm. The pains occur at all hours whether I am at rest or excerzising. I am at an unhealthy weight of 293lbs at 5'10". The last time my vitals were taken (last week 9/8/10) My Resting BPM was 61, my blood pressure was around 132/80. I lead a sedentary lifestyle. I have a family history of high blood pressure and diabetes but not coronary disease. My question is what could be causing the pain in my chest.

You should schedule an appointment to discuss the matter with a doctor to rule out the possibilities of a coronary vessel occlusion.  Usually, CAD begins with chest pain, etc. with exertion and there is relief with rest (stable angina).  You have symptoms of unstable angina (pain at rest and/or exertion) that can be related to a heart condition.  Chest pain can be to other heart problems other than CAD.  Anytime the heart is not getting sufficent supply of oxygen there can be the symptoms you describe.

For instance the failure of oxygen to gain access to, or to be utilized by, the body. Oxygen deprivation may result from interference with some stage of the inspiration, lung diffusion, blood transport, cellular absorption, and final utilization by enzyme systems

Thanks for you question, and if you have any followup questions, you are welcome to respond.
