Chest Pain

Hi I am a 40 Jr old female. I have been getting severe chest pains in my sleep, so bad that I wake up from it and then it takes a while to go away.  In the mornings it’s like there is still “after shock” in my chest from the pain during the night.  So the next day I am still hurting.  This has been going on and of for about two months.  How do you know that it is chest pain or your heart?  Can it be small little heart attracts?

It's really very sad to know all about your daughter's accident. You are taking her care but  one has to be healthy herself to care of others. Please don't ignore your own health.
I'm a sufferer and have to keep myself fit to take care of my family.
I do so by taking medicines regularly and avoid lots of delicious food varieties to avoid another heart-attack

Thank you for the reply.  No I have not been to a DR yet.  My life in a disaster at the moment.  I do suffer from a major sleep disorder and went to see the dr about it and he gave me pills that did not help at all.  I do get chest pains during the day as well.  My daughter has been in a major car accident and broke her back and pelvis in 4 places, so I need to be there for her now.  Cannot deal with bad news of my own at this stage.  I will have it checked out as soon as my daughter is out of hospital.  Thanx for the advice I will use it soon.

The first response would be that chest pain can definitetly be left sided. There is a type of chest pain that can occur just at night and it is called Printzmetal's angina. If that angina occurs also during the day it can be called variant angina.Have you seen a doctor? I would not dismiss these signs as they could be related to heart disease of either the large or smaller heart vessels. There may also be the possibility of a Sleep Disorder and you are becoming airway obstructed at night and creating low oxygen events.Get this checked. Good Luck. Joan.

I have coronary artery spasms and my biggest complaint is the spasms that wake me from a dead sleep.  Have you seen your doctor about this?  It is worth a trip to see the doctor.  My heart attacks were nothing like I would have suspected.  Actually much milder than expected.  It was a burning ache in the center of my chest.  See your doctor about this. Better to check it out and have peace of mind.  Ally
