I am 24 so I can so relate to the thought of "I'm so young so why am I having heart problems?" but don't worry. PVC's are not deadly...just super scary until you get used to them and extremely annoying! If this was your first bout of PVC's ever, it might be helpful to see your doctor. Anxiety can cause episodes to occur so just remind yourself that if it were anything life threatening, the emt would have taken you to the ER and they would have diagnosed you then. I have had episodes for 2 years now (even after an ablation procedure to fix my SVT) and they are rapidly getting worse (and by worse, I mean more frequent, stronger, and more painful). I went to my electrocardiologist again to get it checked out and he is the one who told me that it is not deadly and I feel much better/comforted by knowing that. I would definitely get it checked out but take comfort in knowing that the likelihood of it sending you into vtach are slim considering you don't have any previous history of problems and the PVC's are not going to kill you...just drive ya nuts!
My Cardiologist said that he has lost count how many people go into hospital because of
experiencing missed heart beats. Just like the law of tv engineers, it normally stops on
arrival. To actually catch this event is very time consuming and you need a continual recorder because heart monitors work on an averaging system. He said most cases are
muscle spasms in the chest and the anxiety makes the symptoms seem more like a
heart problem. However, it isn't the case with everyone obviously.
best for you is to have a cardiologist check you, being anxious can sometimes cause our heart to skip a beat..
