Thanks for the suggestion. . I have been trying for many years to have a doctor diagnose me. However, I can never get a straight answer. I will request a RD scan from my primary doctor. Hopefully something will show up on the scan..
Hi there,
I had OHS (heartvalve) in March 2008 and Nov. 2009 had another OHS to fix sternal dehiscense and I was diagnosed with Barrets Esophagus. I also had permanent pain running down my sternum, until they did the 2nd op and I started treatment for Esophagus-problem.
I had a RDscan that diagnosed the sternal problem and Gastroscopy was done for Barrets diagnosis.
I still don't know if it was a combination of the 2 that caused the pain and if it was just the sternum that did not attach.
I don't think chronic pain meds to control it is the answer for you as you are only 48 years old. But it is not normal to have so much pain, so many years after your OHS. I would suggest that you get some scans done to see if your sternum is attached and maybe even look at your Esophagus as Gastritis can also cause that kind of pains and painmeds would make that worse and not improve it.
