hello
im no doctor, im just speaking from experience, but i found that the angioplasty success rate is quite high. after hearing from numerous doctors, it appears to be safe, and the large majority of operations go well. it is not open heart surgery, like a bypass, so the chances of living, are alot higher than that of open heart of course.
ive never met anyone who has suffered due to an angioplasty or stents. my dad had them and they seem really successful. 4 years down the track and his stents are serving him really well. keeping him alive.
i cant answer most of the rest of your question, but i do know that the operation is worthwhile, as you have to do whatever it takes to keep him alive, and this should keep him alive for many more years to come.
i hope i was of some help to you.... as just wanted you to try not to worry, with positive belief your father will be fine, just like mine was.
oh and by the way, stents look like small pen springs, and the ones my father has are 5,000 dollars each. i wuldnt worry about costs though as private health cover and all that jazz should have you not having to pay much at all.
