I have read on a few medical sites that mild diastolic dysfunction can be reversible. That's what I'm hoping for. I do not have hypertension, I actually have low-normal BP so my doctor believes the cardiologist hasn't put me on any medication for the DD because he's afraid it may make my BP too low. So my regular doctor told me to just start taking an 81mg aspirin a day. She also put me on klonopin for the anxiety.
I get chest pains from the anxiety, Gerd, and gas so I'm unsure whether the DD is actually causing me any chest pains because I am regularly having chest discomfort from these other issues.
The diastolic dysfunction and the left ventricle hypertrophy are often caused by hypertension.
The fact that they gave you Eritel makes me think that you have hypertension (at least while you were at the hospital). Is that correct?
Perhaps your chest pain in the hospital was caused by anxiety?
Anxiety can give chest discomfort directly or raise your bp to extreme levels which also can give chest discomfort.
Perhaps it is comforting for you to know that, once the bp is within the normal range, often the hyperthrophy and diastolic disfunction disappear in a couple of months.
This diastolic dysfunction thing is new to me, so it's nice to talk to someone else who has the same and maybe dealing with the same issues. I also have anxiety, have had severe anxiety for 10 years, and the doctor never mentioned to me that anxiety could be a cause in heart problems. My doctors are still working to figure out how I got the DD. I have not been feeling well lately either.
But how is your blood pressure now? Do you have any other conditions that might be causing chest pains, like Gerd? I also found that cutting caffeine out of my diet dramatically cut down on palpitations.
I heard pretty much the same thing. They didn't say what was causing my pains and scheduled me for 3 months.
I hope that you do not continue to have any more chest pains. And hopefully when you go back it's looking better. Did they say what caused the diastolic dysfunction?
I was recently diagnosed with diastolic dysfunction. But the pains I get are like palpitations. So I guess I don't have any good advise for you other than to call the doctor and ask them what the cause was.
