Hello,
This is my history.
28 yr old female
may 2012 - sleeve gastroectomy (abn ECG, inverted T wave V1-V3 - not picked up by nurse) lost approx 30kgs in 7 months. 33kg to date.
Oct 2012 - Severe dizzyspells inside my head (not room spinning), falling over, nausea. MRI on brain - ok.
Oct 2012 - Hospital admission for abnormal ECG(inverted T wave V1-V3) (they thought i was having a heart attack)
I had a massive spell/fit where my arms raised in the air and i couldnt talk.
Nov 2012 - Saw cardiologist, diagnosed me with labrinthitis and normal for me ECG. Echocardiogram ok. dizzyness ceased after few weeks.
Feb 2013 - dizzyness and lightheadness started again, it getting worse I have now blacked out 3 times, first 2 with warning, 3rd no warning. no palipations, no dizzyness before the 3rd black out - dizzy after then 10 minutes later gone.
May 2013 - ongoing dizzy spells but lightheadness all the time, had a 24hr blood pressure, BP 100/70 avg. (In past I have always been 120/80). ECG revealed flattening of the T waves V2-V3.
24hr Holter monitor revealed rare supraventricular ectopic beats.
I quit smoking 4 weeks ago, I have chest pain alot, it seems to be getting more severe and sharper this can be followed by thumping/incresed HR but only half the time. It doesnt matter even im lying down, sitting doing nothing, standing. 2 days ago I had severe pain across my chest whilst sitting down followed by a lightheadness where it feels it just goes black for a second then the dizzy feeling starts. I am a medical scientist so i test my own blood periodically, my electrolytes, liver/renal function, Zinc, Mg, Homocysteine, B12, Iron, are all normal. B-HCG/D-dimer/TNT neg.
I would like to know it this is labrynthitis or is there something more, maybe losing to much weight to quickly has triggered something? My symptoms seem to be getting worse. I constantly feel I am in a state of drunkeness and things dont seem real and the chest pain comes and goes but starting to hurt more.
I will be seeing a cardiologist again because of the ECG changes and the holter results. But I have no idea what it could mean and the GPs cant tell me any information as they have not seen it before and are not specialists.
Could you please give me any indication what might be going on? It is really starting to affect my life, especially driving.
Medications i take are;
Somac 40mg daily since May 2012 for gastric sleeve surgery
Escitopram 10mg since daily Jan 2013 for depression
Champix - 6 weeks for smoking
Mutivitamin - daily
Family History;
Grandfather - heart attack
Father - abnormal heart beat - had paddles to stop and restart his heart to make it beat normally.
Are you taking any medications to help you lose weight? Sorry, if you listed one I am ignorant of such medication. If yes, I think it worth a try to try to level off on your weight program and see if that helps, and stop any weight loss medication/aids.
Of course, you should work to get your weight in line with good health recommendations, but weight loss like everything can be overdone... done too fast.
