An EKG (ECG) isn't a very could source for a prognoses. A CT angiogram scans the anatomy of the coronary vessels and scores the amount of soft plaque within the linings of the vessel. Based on the score there is a predicition of the risk to the individuals to a heart attack. The soft plaque is the condition that poses the highest risk of a heart attack as the soft plaque can break through the inner lining of the vessel and cause a blockage that results in heart attack.
An EKG can with some reliabilty can determine if there has been a heart attack. If there has been prior heart attack and scar tissue, the electrical impulse will not properly conduct through the scar tissue and that will provide a wave form on the EKG output. The st segment on the EKG output is the segment of interest.
Also, a different configuration of the st segment can indicate an enlarged heart and that could cause a future heart attack. An enlarged heart requires more time for the electrical impulse, etc. to pass through the heart tissue.
Hope this provides a perspective of use for you. Thanks for the question, and you are welcome to respond with any other questions you may have. Take care.
