Echo results - input please?

My Echo results today showed Diastolic dysfunction Grade 1
(but I use to have systolic dysfunction & LVF)

It mentions Trace Mitral Reguritation, Trace Mitral Regurgitation,
and Physiolgic degree of pulmonic regurgitation (anyone knows what this is?  Doc didn't say)
and physuiologic degree of pulmonic regurgitation (I have no idea what that means)

Conclusions mentioned all was nrmal except for Diastolic dysfunciton Grade !

I am feeling dizzy, weak, unable to walk or function.

There was a suspected heart attack two weeks ago, but not
confirmed,  T Wave flattenings (wrote in a previous post) with elevated
CK but borderlline normal Troponin.

Input much appreciated.

Many thanks

Angiogram is any procedure that takes images of the vessels filled with a contrast agent.  I had a CT scan 128 slice procedure several months ago.  Inaddition to the injection of contrast dye, there is an injection to lower the heart rate (below 60 is the objective). That procedure provides images to reveal any soft plaque between any of the 3 layers lining the vessel as well as any buildup of plaque in the lumen (vessel channel). Also, the procedure produces images of the lungs, ascending aorta, arch and descending arta.

You mentioned in the previous post about a non-invasive test could show any blockages.  Which ones for instance?  I would prefer to avoid angiogram for the time being...

Thanks for the reply.  Now I will post about my EKG, which I don't quite understand.  All I can say, is that since two weeks ago, I can hardly stand up, feeling whoozy, and light headed.  Two weeks, I was admitted with a suspected heart attack as described in my other posts.

Diastolic dysfunction is usually caused by high blood pressure over a period of time.  A pregnancy will cause DD, but that condition is not pathological (heart is overworked) and the heart returns to normal subsequently to child birth.  Sometimes, the diastolic dysfunction is not resolved under that circumstance.

Yes, an occluded vessel can cause the symptoms you are experiencing.  The ischemia under circumstances that damage heart cells can cause an impediment to heart wall contractions.  The reduced cardiac output would/could cause SOB, fatigue, chest pain etc.  Worst case scenario.

A non-invasive stress test could provide information regarding any blocked vessels and degree of the occlusion if any.

Hope this helps give you a perspective.

Thanks for your input.  I am thinking of having another echo. Previously I had Left ventricular dysfunction and systolic dysfunction for many years.  I could not understand how this last echo showed only Mild diastolic dysfunction!!

Two weeks ago, i was in ER for a suspected heart attack.  I had negative T-Waves flattenings in 5 leads, high CK, and borderline Troponin.  I didn't take the antithrombolytic because I have difficulties in metabolizing meds.  I was afraid of the meds.

This happened twice in the last month.  My cardiologist wants me to have an angiogram, but I also have difficulties with the galdolinium contrast dye.

Since I had the suspected heart attacks, I have been dizzy, disorientated, whoozy, light headed and lots of angina type of pain.

My feet and ankles are swollen, I am breathless, exhausted, fatigued, no stamina.  If I try to carry something such as my purse, or even one bottle of water, one liter, it makes me even worse, with all the aforementioned symptoms, and breathless.

I am wondering if a blocked artery could cause all those symptoms?

I am simply terrified of having contrast dye.  I had this for an angioscan a few years ago, and fell very ill with it.  I also put on a lot of weight with that, and became hypothyroid.

What would the be typical triggers for diastolic dysfunction.

I will also post another question which is really strange, but true.

QUOTE:Physiolgic degree of pulmonic regurgitation (anyone knows what this is?  Doc didn't say)

>>>>Physiologial, mild, trace are degrees of back flow of blood due to leaking valves.  It is considered medically insignificant.

Diastolic dysfunction Grade 1. Diastolic is the left ventricles filling phase.  The dysfuntion would indicate there is an impediment that prevents normal filling, and the underlying cause would be heart wall thickening that reduces the space available to fill adequately and thickened walls is an impediment for filling as the walls are rigid. If the filling of blood to be pumped is reduced, the reductiion can cause symptoms of shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain, etc.

NYHA Diastolic dysfunction Class 1:  Ordinary physical activity does not cause undue fatigue, dyspnea (shortness of breath, palpitation (pounding, irregular heartbeats).  Your feeling weak may be due to another factor, or the DD should be elevated to grade 11.

Hope this helps provide a perspective, if not you can followup with further questions.  Take care and thanks for sharing your experience.
