Fear of illness.

Everyone i've asked so far ( including 3 doctors, 2 of which have consulted me, and one also put me to an EKG test ), has said that I have anxiety problems. I've also described my symptoms here, and i got the same thing. But i feel i really have to clear out my situation, or I won't get rid of the anxiety if that's what's truly bothering me.
A while ago I had ONE major heart beat, felt it in my chest, after which i got dizzy. Then i had what seemed like anxiety and panick attacks, then the doctors and questions episode, and then the "now and then" anxiety-like problems. First, a doctor said that the heart beat and the feelings i had had were because of stress and tiredness, because i used to stay up at night in front of the computer, I used to stay up even till morning, especially in the summer time. Now, i don't usually go to bed later then 12:30, i try to eat better, exercise daily and all that. I do spend a fair amout of time in front of the computer though.

To get to what's bothering me

I sometimes have a feeling, like muscle contractions, usually near my heart, but closer to the underarm, but i think it's atop the rib cage. That usually makes me feel funny, althought it might be because of anxiety. Also, at times, i still have that weird ONE heart beat that makes me feel funny. The thing i'm worrying about is that I always have ONE bigger beat, so i can't call it " palpitations ". It makes my chest tickle and I sometimes get dizzy as well.
I can sometimes describe these weird feelings like a constant flow... from my heart, or like very rapid beating of my heart, really vague beatings but they feel like 10 times a second. I know it doesn't do that, i check it, but that's about the way it feels at times. Although i'm not sure, i think i could call it a " hear murmur ". Sometimes,  when i try to fall asleep, and usually when i'm about to fall asleep, i think it's this same feeling that jolts me awake.
At times, i do have MINOR chest pains, but they're almost unnoticeable and i think i've had all the anxiety related symptoms i could find.

On top of that, I sometimes. always get dizzy when i stretch real hard and when i get up suddenly. Although i did find that if i do it while exercising, it does not happen, which makes me think a slow pulse might have something to do with it. About the pulse, although i've been diagnosed with tachycardia by a doctor about 2 years ago, i often check it, and it's around 60, when i'm not anxious. Sometimes i feel like it goes even lower, although i can't get a correct measurement because i get anxious while taking the pulse... which raises it.

Also, after exercise, when i get into a straight position, raising my shoulders and everything, i get a weird feeling, almost like dizziness, but not quite, and i feel my heart beating harder in the back of my neck. I don't usually stay straight so it might have something to do with that. I'd like some recommandations about this as well, if anyone is willing.

And another thing, sometimes, when i sit on the chair for longer periods of time, usually in the evening, and i think it's only when i find straight posture, i have a heavy feeling on my chest, a bit in the left side.

None of these prevent me from doing stuff i usually do, so i can categorize them as minor, but I do get very anxious and i worry at times about them, which will undoubtedly make things worse in case i really don't have anything serious.

I'd also like to mention that i'm 17, there's no heart condition history in my family, as far as i know, but there have been anxiety problems, my mom and grandmother have had them.

I'm not taking any medication. I really don't like medication. I'm 17 as i said.. hope it's just anxiety, and i'll get over it. If it isn't, i'm not gonna live for all my life with ilnesses. Thanks anyway.

Two doctors have consulted me with the stethoscope. They both listened for a while and said it was all ok. The " heart murmur " might not be the best description for what i'm feeling. I just have some weird feelings, it tickles and it's some kind of fluttering.

Anyway, i've had an ECG, or EKG, however you wish to call it. They said it was fine, they just gave me some vitamins and some anxiety drug which i took for a few days.

Hi!  Sorry you're having some peculiar symptoms.  I gotta tell ya, anxiety can be the cause behind a lot of symptoms.  However, you always want to be sure you're checked out when you have new symptoms.  I'm guessing you've had a recent checkup and the doctor has tried to convince you that you are fine.

I am not a doctor, but have a couple of thoughts....The big thumpy type heartbeat MAY be what's referred to as a "compensatory pause."  Sometimes we have an extra beat (PVC or PAC) and right after the extra beat (which feels like a skipped beat), some people feel a THUMP!!  Creepy, but generally benign.

Have you had an echocardiogram, or are you just guessing about a heart murmur?  Did you doctor hear a murmur with the stethoscope?

It sounds quite likely that anxiety is at the root of your problems.  It can cause all kinds of symptoms and panicky feelings.  Try to learn coping mechanisms (yoga, exercise, meditation, relaxation, etc) to help with the anxiety.  We're here to help.

If you are at all concerned, pleae touch base with your doctor.  It's always best to rule out anything medical.  Then, if it becomes more of an anxiety problem, it's best to learn to work it out.

Take care
Connie
