Anxiety can certainly cause the symptoms you are describing. The fact that you have a good tolerance to exercise and no symptoms when walking would suggests your heart is functioning sufficiently. Also, symptoms that come on at rest are not usually heart related. Keep up the exercise, that's what pulled me through my anxiety. My anxiety concerning my heart started with some mild chest pain in 2005, went to the ER to get checked out. I was kept overnight and had every test I could have done on my heart. including a nuclear stress test, an echo and all the blood work that goes with it, all normal and I was discharged. I can remember being at home or at the office and I could feel the symptoms you are describing and I was convinced I was going to have the big one any moment. This continued for the following THREE years during which time I had two more Thallium Stress tests, two more echos and more EKGs than I could count, yet I just couldn't accept the doctors conclusion that everything was normal. I started exercising and my rational was if I could work out at an appropriate heart rate for an hour a day without symptoms, my heart must be OK. Well after 3 years of that, I have lost 70 pounds and no longer worry about my heart and I can accept what my cardiologist was telling me. On my last visit with her some 3 years ago, she discharged me from her care saying That I no longer needed a cardiologist and for the first time I believed her.

Sorry for rambling, but that's what I went through. I would have saved three years of my life if I would just have trusted my cardiologist. What does your doctor say about your prognosis? Have you asked him for something to help with the anxiety?

Yes, your left ventricle is enlarged, but I have read about much higher numbers and you are just over on your septum, mine was at 1.2 cm and my lab called that LVH. The only think I can't explain is the hypokinesia. I'm sure your doctor must have suggested an underlying cause, fix that and your heart can remodel itself back to normal.

Bottom line, if you have symptoms, get checked out. Beyond that, try to get your mind off of your heart. Exercise worked for me, that along with a new hobby to keep me occupied.

Please keep us posted and good luck!
