Hello from Peekawho, CL of the Dieting and Healthy Cooking Communities!

Hi!
I'm Peekawho, CL of the Dieting Community, and the Healthy Cooking Community.  I'm popping in to invite any of you to come over and make yourselves at home, have a cup of coffee, read, and contribute if you can.  I've personally lost 45 pounds over 6-7 months with simple changes to  my diet, and with sensible exercise.  It can be done without pills, and without severely depriving yourself.  I've been able to cut my BP meds in half after losing weight.   My husband was able to completely stop his diabetes meds, and his BP meds after losing 65 pounds.  Of course, this  may not happen in your particular situations, but if it could, wouldn't it be fantastic?   Simple changes that you can keep up in the long run are what will keep you healthy for a lifetime.

What we eat can have a major impact on many different health conditions.   Good, healthy food does not have to be boring and bland!  Food should be nourishing, delicious, and fun to experiment with.  I make better choices now, but still allow myself some treats when I feel I really want them.

I'd love for any of you to come and look around the Dieting Community, and the Healthy Cooking Community.  Please feel free to join the community and contribute often.  Others might be able to learn from your experiences, and we're always in need of great tasting, healthy recipes, nutrition, and exercise tips!

I'll look forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks,
Peekawho

Thanks, Connie!

I also wanted to say that what actually inspired me to begin losing weight and paying attention to nutrition was nearly being diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension last year.

I was short of breath from normal activities and it was impossible to exercise or walk.  My pulmonary artery pressures were found to be elevated.  An exhaustive search for a reason yielded nothing.  With my docs permission, I went ahead and started "The Year Of Me", and lost that weight and concentrated on conditioning.

My PA pressures are now normal.  I dodged a big bullet, and I'm forever mindful now of my diet and how it affected my heart.

Come on over folks!  Cooking is fun!

Hi Peekawho!!

Thanks for dropping by to invite all of our members to visit the Healthy Cooking forum!  I've visited over there and absolutely love it!!

There are ideas and recipes for everyone!!  Don't be fooled when you see the word "healthy".  The recipes are great!!  Don't forget about the added bonus of potentially reducing the quantity and dosage of medications....What's not to love about that?!!!

For any of you who like to cook on the grill, why not post one of your favorite summer BBQ recipes?  It's a great time of year to enjoy a good BBQ and fresh fruits and vegetables.  Be sure to check it out!
