left area chest pain

hi, im 24 years of age a non smoker and a non drinker, i currently have a chest pain on the left side of my body. Its a constant pain for the last 4 weeks. I have been to a doctor that told me i strained the muscle and that i should ice it and just take panadol for the pain. its very dull. It keeps me awake at night sometimes i cant sleep at all. I take magnesium amd muliti- vitamins everyday. i take panadol before going to bed so that i can get some rest. Im a chef and im constantly lifting large objects and very long hours. Do i need more protein in my diet to repair the muscle or is there another way to help repair it.?

I have seen a doctor. He told me I have torn my left pec muscle, and to ice it and take panadol.  When I use my ARM its fine I can lift it twist it and make a fist. It's only after I've finished work that it starts to ache. I must be over working the muscle, I have not had time to let it heal.. its not getting worse but its not getting better. I have very tight shoulders and
Shoulder pain which probly dosent help, and lower back pain, can you suggest a protein powder to help it or maybe an exercise or swimming to help strenthen it?
