Apparently you have a bioprosthetic valves and the risk of blood clots are not as likely and therefore do not need life-long anticoagulant treatment.
If the rhythm disorder is tachycardia (ventrcular fibrilation), and if you have coronary artery disease with a low cardiac output sometimes an ICD is implanted to reduce the risk of a heart rhythm out of control. and the was ventricular fibrillation and he has coronary disease and a low EF then an ICD probably would be indicated. There is a lot of data that would support this approach as a life saving therapy
For a statistic according to data from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality-sponsored study published in the “Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery”, close to 50 percent of complications from heart valve replacements are cardiac-related. These complications can include heart attack and the development of an arrhythmia, or irregular heart beat. Both of these complications can be fatal so it may be wise to have an ICD.
QUOTE: Will this irregulaity ever stop. will i be able to get off the sotalol aswell. beccause i hate pills.
>>>>>Sotalol is the help normalize heartbeats, and that may reduce risk of a dangerously fast heartbeat.
>>>>Hope this provides a perspective that helps you understand your questions of concern. If the medication is effective, then there may no need for further treatment, and if you are your doctor decide an interventional therapy is of benefit, then treatment other than medication would be a consideration.
