Low HDL and very low LDL

Hi, my just received phsysical results and it seems alarming. I have a total cholesterol of 110, LDL 65, HDL 33 and Trilycerides 86. I workout every day burning about 800 calories, eat high fiber food full of vegetables, fruits, soy milk, fiber 1 cereals, nuts, whole grain, apple and milk. I'm a vegetaian and never used alcohol or tobacco products. In the last 4 months, I have lost 28 lbs and my current weight is 154 lbs with height 5 feet and 8 inches. What am I doing wrong and why my HDL is so low?

This is something so many people struggle with. HDL ratio in your count is not bad at all, but agreed it could be a bit higher. Shopping is a nightmare as it is, but you have to watch out for products containing trans fatty acids. Some labels call this "partially hydrogenated vegetable oils". Another thing to try is increasing monounsaturated fats. These are found in things like olive oil, peanut butter, avocado oil. Cranberry juice increases HDL as does omega 3 fatty acids, found in fish and some other foods. Don't listen to any remarks regarding calcium supplements because this doesn't seem to improve HDL in men or post menopausal women.

I hope that's given some help.
