Hello dear Doctor
i'm 20 years old.about 3 month ago when i go to take a check-up, i saw that i have Mild MVP with Trivial MR.
My cardiologist ask me to take EKG & X-RAY. EKG & CXR report shows:
Normal Heart Size & mediastinum,Both lung field are clear.
EKG also:Normal Rate 86bpm no irregularity.
My Echo: L.V ESD:24  EDD:44  EF:60%    L.A Dimention 32
Finally i'm worry about that.is there any suggestion to prevent progress or any treatment about that.
or mybe it is wrong reading my echo from my cardilogist?

Hi there.  Your heart has been checked out very thoroughly.  Don't worry to much about the MVP.  My Cardiologist told me that 20% of the population has it so it is very common and you shouldn't worry to much.  Only about 5% need surgical treatment and that is only when there are traces of SEVERE (Grade 5-6) Mitral regurg and leakage and only when patient has symptoms or heart enlargement, pulmonary hypertension, SOB, etc.

I trust that your Cardio will check up on you again after 1 year and if there is no change, thereafter maybe every 3 years.

May you have a healthy, happy heart forever :)

my daughter was diagnosed with mvp at 18 and she's 31 now. the only time it really acts up is when she has caffeine. i would say to stay away from it. this problem is not uncommon so try not to worry too much. remar

It sounds like a benign problem but you should talk to the doctor about this.  However I suspect your prognosis is very good.
