I have had moderate to severe MVR for more than 5 years and no symptoms that are related to valve insufficiency....valve repair or replace isn't necessary based on 2+ if there isn't any physiological pathology such as an increase in left ventricle dimension, atria enlargement, increased pressures, etc.
For many years antibiotics were recommended for some dental procedures, but about a year ago AAC/AHA no longer take that position, however, there are some dentists that may insist on antibiotics before doing a procedure..
Add'l info: I am 24 years old.
Has the underlying cause for the valve disorder been discussed? Has there been an infection? Is the problem congenital? Is the disorder mitral valve prolapse?.
No infection. I think it is prolapse.
Many individuals have MVP, and it doesn't progress. Probably want to periodically check it out.
