Please help me in reading the ECHO report

Hello All,

My father recently did a 2D Echo test, the report mentions "ISCHEMIC DILATED CARDIOMYOPATl-lY, SEVERE LV DYS FUNCTION, LVEF 35% TO 40%. GLOBAL HYPOKINESIA, LA, LV, PA DILATED, SEVERE PAH, GRADE I MR, NO LV CLOT."

Please help me understand "What does all these medical terms mean? and how serious it is. Will this be curable.

Please anyone help/guide me.

Thanks and best regards,
Sanjay

From my patient experience, those results are not good, but many of us are living with much worse results.

Is it curable? I am afraid not, but it is controllable.

The way to proceed it will be dictated by the state of his heart and by the reasons why it is in that state. The report indicate "Ischemic" which I wonder how can they get this conclusion from an echo.

What age does he has?? What Symptoms does he has? What previous problems.. High BP,  High Cholesterol, Heart attack, Obstructive Pulmonary ?

What the cardiologist  says?

Jesus

From my limited experience....ischemic...lack of oxygen
cardiomyopathy...heart disease,  LV DYS  left ventricle dysfunction, LVEF .. left ventricle ejection fraction....pumping efficiency of heart,  hypokinesis...heart muscle is moving in a sluggish manner, not briskly,  Pulmonary artery dilated and hypyperplasia....enlarged vessels, no left ventricular clot.....  I am surprised the results were not discussed with you during and after this test.  As a former instructor of an undergraduate anatomy course these findings certainly are serious with respect to your heart function.
