Post pacemaker surgery side effects

My 66 yr old father had to have a pacemaker inserted after his heart rate dropped dangerously low. He has had it in for 9 days now and is experiencing moderate to severe lightheadedness and diziness when he lays down or gets up. This usually recedes after about 20 mins to a half hour. Is it normal? His doctored mentioned that this was normal but every blog I have read mentions dizziness being an indication of possible malfunction of the leads. What are your thoughts?

your bp drops when you lie down so you have to get up slowly sit on the end of bed for few minutes until it adjusts,im not too sure about pacemakers though, people on hear do not have the knowledge of a doctor so id listen to him personally it is good to read other peoples reviews too if theyve been through the same

I'd have it checked out, that's not a normal reaction.  Were any of his medications changed?  Often that is the case when a pacer is inserted, or at least it was in my case.  Sometimes pacers need to be re-programmed.  What brand is it?  The manufacturer may have resources for questions.  If it's a Biotronik, they are manufactured in Lake Oswego.  They were very good about answering my questions.
