I've been worried about my blood pressure for awhile since I tend to have high readings at the doctor's office. I do get severely anxious and worried at the doctors office and 2nd office readings are usually a bit lower than the first. I have started monitoring my bp at home, and have normal average readings (morning avg= 113/78, afternoon/evening avg=121/81). However, I get worried about some of the higher rates which are definitely in the prehypertension phase usually around the mid to lower 130s and mid to upper 80s. I usually take my bp several times in one sitting a few minutes apart, and it can go from numbers such as 136/88 one minute to 115/77 the next. Does anybody else have this problem? Should I be somewhat worried or should I just take comfort that the avearge is completely normal?
Another note, the "lifestyle changes" really can't apply to me b/c I am 5ft4in, around 128lbs, eat an already low-salt diet, and get moderate exercise of a 40minute walk 4-5 days a week. I don't really see what else I can do to keep the bp in good control, and would not want to start medication at this age (mid-20s).
