RBBB+LAD in helathy male age 25

Hi ,

i was diagnosed with a complete RBBB+LAD 4 years ago. An Ultrasound and a Stree ECG didn't show up any signs of structural heart disease...

I'm 25 now, active and feel fine.

Thing is my Mum (who is 51 and also healthy) just had an ECG done and also presented with RBBB+LAD(although her RBBB was incomplete). She's experienced an Episod of Tachycardia once in her life about 5 or 6 years ago, hasn't been anything since. I don't know of any SCDs in my Family but to be honest i've only got 7 relatives.

Should I be unsettled by this? Hard to imagine that it's a coincidence, seeing as it's a rare finding in healthy adults....

Thanks,

Chris

Okay...found this paper that ties the two together...searched "genetics of left axis deviation"

Thanks for the comment. Interesting site.
But still it's not only a RBBB but the left axis deviation makes it a bifascicular Block? And i can't seem to find anything on that being a genetic disorder..

Check  "genetics of RBBB"  and wikidoc has a site that suggests a familial chromosome 18 association with RBBB.  It is a rare and asymptomatic occurrence therefore it is hard to document whether or not there is direct genetic basis...I'm not surprised that it runs in families. As an aside, a recent ECG revealed that I've had one for at least 25 years.
