herniate disc L5-S1

I have a herniate disc, L5-S1 for about 3 years. In the last year I had increasing numbness, pain, cramping and especially the cramping and pain at night. I awake and I have to get off the bed and stand for a while until my pain goes away. My neurosurgeon says that this is caused by my condition. I do not have any related heart conditions up to now, should I worry that it could be related to the heart? What can be done to relieve this cramping, can't wear heels anymore, the minute I do, I have to quickly remove them. The surgeon says that surgery is urgently needed, since the canal is narrowing in my spine. Is all this caused to the herniate disc?
Thank You

If you don't have regular exercise due to a herniated disc, that can decondtion your general health as well the cardiovascular system.  Talk to your doctor about some type of exercise program for you with your condition. Better to have surgical treatment for your back problem as soon as possible because it will not get better without an operation.
