Sterile discharge

I have gone thru bypass surgery Jan this year.. All went ok but in Feb i developed an sternal wound infection. I was admitted again n my doctor operated again to remove sternal wires..But for the top sternal wire, all were removed. The wound was not close stitched right away so tension sutures were used initially n after 12 days it was closed. The wound healed, but i started having some collection problem, which needed to be drained, every now n then.. Have been on antibiotics on n off,but thrice they did culture of discharge, but nothing was found.. Now after 6 months,i still have a small kinda hole( hairpin size) from which some discharge still comes, only a drop or so on 24 hours. so i have been doing dressing ever since. I'm so sick n tired n depressed but Doc says nothing to worry, n time will take care of it.. Please help me in any advise possible.. It just doesn't seemto go away.. My heart is ok now,but with stress like this, dont know wat will happen...

It is not uncommon for infections to require draining. If someone has a deep infection it is usually cut open for access and packed with gauze every day. The body, while fighting an infection, builds up fluid in the area and it's good it has somewhere to drain. I think the Doctor is correct and it will heal over when ready.
