Stress and low blood pressure

Hello everyone,

I hope someone has a clue as to whats going on.  I have been under a extreme amount of stress in the last month, with illness of two elderly family members, and not knowing what was going to happen.  (It required both of them to be placed in a nursing home).  I normally have a blood pressure reading around 110/70-75.  One day last week when the hospital called and told me they could no longer keep them in the hospital, and I needed to find long term care for them, my blood pressure went to 180/88.  I was frantic trying to find suitable long term care.  I found the care they needed and they are both comfortable in a great nursing home.  Yesterday was the first day I was able to relax without all the anxiety and stress of the last month.  I was extremely tired and felt a little lightheaded.  I took my blood pressure and it was only 90/50 pulse was 60.  It stayed around the same all day.  Today it is a little better 115/58, but I still feel lightheaded, but not a tired.  I also lost about 10 pounds during this time.  Is this something I should be going to the doctor for, or is it just a reaction to all the stress I have been under and I'm just exhausted and need to relax for a few days.  Thanks

I am glad that your blood pressure isn't HIGH anymore. low BP is actually really good to have. as long as your are not passing out. I havw low BP and somethimes I get dizzy. form what I was also told is being exhausted can cause low BP now you are moe then just physically tired you are also mentally tired and you sound a little depressed from having to put them in a home(this is normal feelings by the way) this all can bring your BP down.
I hope you all are settled with your major changes in life
good luck

Hi
It is true that long term stress is one cause of low blood pressure, but from what you said I don’t think you undergo stress for enough periods to tell. I’m not sure but I think what you are going through is the normal consequence to the stress you undergo! & I believe it is a matter of time! It is too early to say! Don’t panic! However, if you don’t get better in few days try & see a doc!
Wish you all the best!  Take care
