Why do dentists continue to premedicate for heart murmurs?

Why do dentists and physicians continue to practice consensus or beleifs rather than science? Giving a patient a dose of antibiotics was never science. It has only been shown to injure patient's immune system and has never been shown to prevent anything.
I conclude that dentists are unintelligent whimps who fear to look at truths , and would rather follow the leader.
Start practicing science!

I disagree. If you go to the dentist and there is a huge abscess which has to be treated before the tooth can be touched, then antibiotics are the only solution. Not too long ago in history, it was common for people to die from such things. Antibiotics definitely remove such infections, and without treatment the toxins would eventually burst into the blood stream, killing us. My wife nearly died of pneumonia and was on life support. Without antibiotics she would have died because the body is too weak to fight the infection during such times, especially after major surgery which she had just had.
You have your facts twisted.
Hardly any viruses are hit by antibiotics and there was a time doctors seemed to prescribe them to anyone with flu. However, I believe this has all changed in the last few years. There will probably come a time in your life when you will need antibiotics and believe me, you will be glad they exist.
