antibiotic 1 hour before dental cleaning and extraction
hi im rochelle from phillipines.i was just diagnose from mitral valve prolapse this year last january.I always feel sick,having head ache all the time, shortness of breath sometimes but i can manage it...the scarriest part when you have a pannick attact that you might feel that your going to have a heart attack and palpitation...im just worried and concerned taking 2 grams of prophylaxis antibiotic 1 hour before dental work...im scared of the high dose and the side effect of the antibiotic that will might worst my condition.im sensitive on medicine im really scared taking this 1 time.my cardiologist told me to take this....but the problem im just worried and scared what will happen to me after taKING THIS medicine...is there another prophylaxis antibiotic that can be taking 1 capsules only then in another hours take the other 1 capsuls again?pls help ..........
Hi, im just scared taking 2 grams antibiotic...for any dental work, i never experience it until now i was diagnose of mvp...can you tell me what did you feel after taking such a high dose of prophylaxis antibiotic?i also take beta blocker concore 2.5m for my palpitation...should i still take it ?when i had the antibiotic for dental extraction?
First of all, you should consult your physician regarding the protocol for taking anti-biotics and the specific anti-biotic.
An anti-biotic taken two hours before will not be in the bloodstream. It should be taken four hours before, with grapefruit juice.
Secondly, the medication should not be discontinued, but taken for five or seven or fourteen days, as the physician recommends. Otherwise you will simply guarantee yourself an anti-biotic resistant infection.
Pennicilin is inappropriate as a prophalaxis, in that by now most strains of bacteria are pennicilin resistant.

I know what you mean I have got to take pennicilln before i have test done On the 14 April I have too take 2000 mg of the stuff .I have a Biscuspid Aortic heart valve. . Your cardiolist will have checked the side affects out. It is better to take anitbotics just to stop any infection getting on the heart valve . At least you only have to take two I have to 4 of the penciln two hour before. good luck.
