Heart palpitations are relatively common and effect a large segment of the population at one time or another. You are most likely experiencing PVC's or PAC's caused by stress or anxiety, endocrine disorders such as thyroid disease, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance to name a few
. Whether or not the palpations are serious depends on the cause and whether or not the heart is otherwise normal. Have you had any kind of testing like an EKG or Echo?
If there is no other evidence of heart disease, PAC's and PVC's are generally not life threatening and many people learn to ignore them although treatment, such as beta blockers, are available.
If heart disease is present, further testing and treatment is often necessary. You should check out the Heart Rhythm Forum here, there are many people over there who have very similar stories. Good luck:)
Although everyone has at one time or another experienced skipped heart beats, its not normal to have this on a regular basis even if you suffer from anxiety. Over time it will decrease your cardiac output and cause fatigue and other symptoms. Go see you doctor.
I had skipped heart beats and runaway heart [ felt like it was beating 100's of times per minute ] real scary. My doc put the holter moniter on for 24 hours and said I din't have a few skipped beats but many of them. He put me on a beta blocker and that took care of them. I have been free of them for around five years. Never got an explanation of what was causing them and didn't care. I was just grateful I felt better after years of suffering.
I have been having skipped beats also. My heart beats, beat, beat,........hard beat, then beat, beat, beat. I have seen several doctors and they all say it is anxiety. It scares the h*** out of me. I also have tachycardia.
