Obviously, there will be no operation until the clot formation has been dealt with. When a patient is on ant-platelet medication there is reduction or change in the medication and a bridge therapy.
There is consideration with patients on anti-platelet, with exceptions, patients on antiplatelet drugs should continue their treatment throughout surgery, except when bleeding might occur in a closed space. A therapeutic bridge with shorter-acting antiplatelet drugs may be considered.
I think they will wait for the clots to dissolve before attempting any surgery. Clot busting medication should dissolve them, and also hopefully help the coronary arteries in the meantime with other medication. Stenting, if necessary, should become an option in the near future.
after some heart attacks the arteries close up a bit therefore a stent will be put in place to keep open the arteries, what operation should have he had?
As a matter of interest, where in the heart would the clot be forming? the atria?
Sometimes a clot is dissolved by the body's natural system and/or there is medication that can dissolved a clot. A pacemaker can maintain stability of the heart's rhythm, and your husband can have many years left.
