bouts of high bp in dilated cardiomyopathy

hi again all...  got a question   Amber has been having episodes of high bp lately  145/89 up to 169/95   i think it may be her diet (since she has been living on her own her diet wasn't good, but i have taken care of that and i take her grocery shopping now and do not leave her extra money to walk to store to buy junk)    the fact that she is on coreg, digoxin, inspra and vasotec should keep her bp low... it has been in the 105-110/80 range before...  she is scheduled for echo on may 17     i also have her walking about 15 min a day....   any ideas??  thanks   dawn

hi there!!   somedays are good, somedays it will be high... she was home for a couple days and it had spiked after she went for a walk with my husband and the next day it had spiked after dinner   she isn't complaining of any symptoms though   i took her to her pcp and he wants her to watch the diet and walk more... she has also gained about 15 pounds but he didn't think the weight was fluid accumulation   more of what she had been eating (she was eating alot of junk)    thanks again        dawn

Good morning - it's always good to hear from you and have an update on Amber. Sorry she's having BP problems. Do you have any idea how often her BP goes up and what time of day? My own experience is I'll get BP spikes if I eat the wrong foods, specifically high sodium. It tends to make me bloat up in the evening and my BP will pop up to 160. Not healthy. By morning, I've drained off the fluid and feel much better.

You may be right - it could be tied in to her diet now that she's on her own. But if you see her BP consistently high, day after day and during different times of the day, I would call her doctor instead of waiting till May. I hope it all works out for her. She doesn't need another pill on her list. Ick.
