Hi,
Well, there are obviously levels and there are levels. My Wife had a very large stroke and her blood pressure is 120/75 which her Consultants say is just right. This is her resting blood pressure. I would assume anything between 110-125 systolic and 70-80 diastolic would be fine.
Thanks for your quick reply. A - CT scan and angiogram was performed just after being admitted into intensive emergency care unit. You are correct in assuming the artery was too small and deeply located in the brain. My blood pressure was over 200 following the rupture. They reiterated how lucky I survived this ordeal.
Which blood pressure and pulse ratings should I try to maintain? My age is near 60.
There must have been some kind of vessel weakness/damage for it to bleed.
Perhaps your best plan would be to keep your blood pressure in the normal range, or better still, low normal. Any other vessels heading for the same problem would have a much greater chance to recover. Maybe a reason they didn't intervene is that the bleed was too too deep in the brain and the artery was too small for stenting etc ?
Blood thinners will increase the risk of bleeds, but the other side of the coin is lower risk of forming any clots. Before being discharged, I would assume they did a blood test to check your INR number. This shows the strength of your clotting ability.
