Starting at age 45 to present (age 53) my blood resuls on a average run ldl 65, hdl 41, total col 165, and triglisarides between180 and 280, the tries being hi could this lead to heart disease.
There is no conclusive link between high Tri's and heart disease, but most experts agree that there is an additional risk involved. Tri's are easy to lower, cut back on all sugars, breads, pastas and alcohol, that usually is enough. If not, you can try a Fenofibrate which is a very effective drug.
And, although nobody mention it, be sure that you do not eat any egg in the 48 hours before the blood test... that sky rocked the tri. levels of my wife.
In any case before going on medication, I would check thyroid and Vitamin D levels.
Good luck,
Tony
