thank you for response my husband got an aotic heart valve fitted ready to back to work then he did in the street if it wasn,t for passer-by  he would be dead but with the complication of life support he has now childlike behaviour the icd unit has been going quite a lot and has had it replaced once but it is his heart that been badly damaged that is why they said 5 years and if he has a bad heart attack that he did they wouldn,t bring him back because the heart wouldn,t take it and again thankyou and i also have hope we are now three years on so hopefully

Did your husband have a stroke?  What is the basis of your doctor's prognosis, and no one can predict how long one will last.  Keep in mind there are continuing medical advances and 5 years is a long time and new remedies and treatment are continuing to evolve.

About 7 years ago, the doctor stated I wouldn't last for more than 5 months!!  I updated my Will, and i am still somewhat resentful for the doctor making that claim... also stated I need a stent in a 70% occluded vessel even though I didn't have any symptoms.

I dismissed that doctor and the current doctor has never suggested I needed a stent implant!
