What if the LAFB was seen after the stress test was taken while resting?
iam a 45 year old male i have been a vegetarian for 30 years i was fit and well dont drink or smoke and take regular excercise last year i fractured t9-12 in the thoracic then L1 lumbar i attended a MRI scan to determine how many vertebrae will be subject to vertebroplasty, before the mri i was sent for an ecg which showed LAFB,what happens next ? can it be repaired ? my gp told me my cholesterol is 6.8 and normal he says its genetic is this related ? i am confused
In general, finding a LAFB should bring a search for underlying heart disease. OFTEN NONE IS FOUND, in which case the LAFB can be ignored.
Conditons to be ruled out: LAFB may occur in cardiac disease and may occur in acute myocardial infarction.
LAFB may also be observed following acute inferior wall myocardial infarction
this is suggestive that LAFB is a result of disease of the left anterior descending artery.
Other associations of LAFB include:
hypertensive heart disease
aortic valve disease
cardiomyopathy
An EKG is not very reliable to diagnosis a medical condition. Requires support from other tests, symptoms, etc. A stress test can rule out many conditions associated with LAFB.
