patent foreman

My daughter has a tiny PFO, she has had 2 echos and 2 ekg.  First one was at age 3, then age 4 and has an appointment for 7-28-08.  Dr. said it should be closed by this check up time.  Would this cause her to tire out easy?  She tires out more quickly than her cousin who is 2 weeks older than her.  In the past she has been anemic, but her last blood work was good only her mcv was low.  She has low blood sugar.  She takes singulair daily and a vitamin.
She sometimes has a blue tint arount her mouth not her lips.

This discussion is related to closure of Patent foreman ovale/ running and lifting weights.

Hi There I ahve a son who os 4 1/2 (you can't forget that 1/2)  V=Crhistopiher has several issues with his heart an yes he does have a PFO since birth. his is very tiny (the size of a pin hole) and has yet to close. soif it isn't closed don't worry. as far as her turning blue, do you know if she has SHUNTING across her PFO? this can cause her to turn blue. Chris turns blue in the same area as your doctors, and his cardiac doctor thinks that is unusal. do you know how low her 02 goes when this happens? 95-100 is normal they will also say that anyhting in the 90's os okay but is is concerning when is goes lower.
Chris does tire out more easily then other kids, but I can't for sure say it is the PFO or the other stuff going on in his body, I do know that the PFO can do that.  He also takes asthma medications, Pulmicort and xopenex on a daily baisis.
good luck
michelle

Yes, a PFO can cause fatigue as the blood/oxygen level pumped into circulation may be compromised.  More likely, the cause of being tired can be related to low blood sugar and anemia.
