pulling feeling in ankle

dearest medhelp community,

i'm hoping someone who has experienced dvt, pad, or a blood clot or clogged artery in their leg might read this and share their experience with me, what it felt like for them...

i have, for many years lived with quite severe edema in my legs, and i would say it has always been worse in my left one... now, if i sit for more than a few minutes, when i stand up again, even when my legs are not noticably swollen, i feel a pulling/pressure feeling at the front of my ankle, towards the inner side.
the feeling does subside but if i sit down again it comes back, and sometimes i am even having it upon waking in the morning when i've been off my feet and not sitting.
i am scared this could be a blood clot, clogged artery, or something else serious.
could someone maybe share with me their experience with dvt, pad, a blood clot or clogged artery so i can act accordingly?
you would be of great help to me... thank you for reading...

"from now on i will answer the question w/o concern"

...dear crow, did i offend u? i so didn't mean to... i was seeking to compare my symptoms with those of others so that i may get a sense what i am up against, but i am very ~grateful~ for your concern! i would be so alone without people like yourself to care about me! ...and i am so sorry for what u went through, words cannot adequately convey how much i feel for that! and i'm so glad u are alright - and now you're here helping others, like me <3 (that's a heart)

admittedly i am a little scared, but i am in a powerless position right now, i just have to keep doing the best i can and hope my body keeps working until i can see a doctor.

*hugs*

Clueless,  I did have DVT in left leg that eventually blocked my colon and had 3 surgeries in 15 days.  Was in coma for 27 days and hospital for 71 days so I feel I have sufficient experience to comment on your question. They removed 15 inch's of my colon. I got septic and they called my family in twice because they did not think I would live, but by the grace of God I did.  The reason I originally answered your question was that I did not want to scare the begeebers out of you.  From now on I will answer the question w/o concern.  I wish you all the best and God Bless You

I left something out of my previous post. My left leg had shrunk 2 inches because of the loss of blood flow.  I live in fear of losing the leg now.  Take care, Ally

I am not at all sedentary.  I love my walking.  I am raising 3 small grandchildren. I am always busy.  The walking lately, though, has been hard for me because of the pain in that leg again.  This time it feels like it may be further down.  I am now getting some numbness in that foot, so, yes, it's time for me to go in for the doppler.  I was in the hospital a month ago because I thought I was having another heart attack.  Turned out to be heart spasms.  I have those daily. I will send you a note that has my email address.  Take care and thanks for your thoughts.  Ally

wow, ally, thank u so much for sharing... i am so sorry u had to go through that experience with your health... i am so glad u did go to the doctor and are okay now ...but i'm so sorry u have to be concerned about another blockage. are u hesitant to go back to the doctor? i can sure understand that ...but if u can muster up the courage, i hope u will go, i want u to be okay.

ally, may i ask, are u sedentary? that is something i'm so concerned about, being vulnerable to leg blood clots due to inactivity ...i am trying to never sit for too long, though that is hard because when standing i then get foot pain (how is one supposed to spend their time when either sitting, standing, or laying down are no good? lol)...

i am also taking (don't expect others to care what iiiii take, but maybe they can look into these things ALONG WITH THEIR DOCTOR'S CARE):

edta (chelation ...supposed to help diminish arterial plaque deposits ...need to supplement with a liquid vitamin/mineral when taking),

serrapeptase (an enzyme from silk worms OR made in a lab that helps dissolve fibrin/keep clots from forming),

metal shield (fulvic acid chelating capsules),

malic acid (for dissolving deposits and also helping for energy),

celery capsules (for circulation, not to be taken if one has or even suspects kidney issues and not to be taken long term)

diosmin (a special citrus flavonoid that is supposed to help the integrity of the veins)

and i also want to get on arginine to improve blood flow to extremities but am trying to find one that can cross the blood brain barrier (otherwise, it's supposed to be inferior) that isn't expensive .........and bulk omega 3's ...and who knows what else i will consider, i just want to do the best i can...

and for gentle exercise ...i can't do a lot now because i was in an accident two months ago but i was going to get one of those pilates machines where u sit on a bench on rollers and, pulling cables the bench slides back & forth, u can sit on it with your legs folded (facing where the cables stem from) and pull the cables and it's sort of like rowing exercise so i hope i can lose some weight and improve circulation with that...

sorry i wrote so much, hope this is useful to anyone ...and i want u to be well, ally, please if u get a chance post back here and let me know how you're doing (or, i'm new here so i don't know if we're allowed to email each other but if u can, you're welcome to eml or pm me) ...hugs...

I have PAD and in my case the Iliac artery was 100% blocked and had been for a couple of years.  The pain I experienced in that leg I shrugged off to arthritis until my foot went numb.  It was that numbness that sent me to the doctor.  The pain I had in my leg was a burning ache that went down the back of my leg while walking.  I can remember telling whomever I went shopping with to just go ahead and I would catch up.  The pain made it difficult to walk.  But I never had any pulling sensation with it. Not sure what it would feel like had the blockage been further into my leg.  The blockage I had was in the stomach area.  It took the doctor 4 hours to put the stent in because it was so old and scar tissue had built up in it.  He almost gave up and was going to offer bypass. I am thinking that I have a blockage again in the same leg because of the pain I am having again, but this time the pain is further into my leg.  Still it is a burning ache and there is some numbness in that leg again.  The left leg for me.  Take care, Ally

First of all, go to Dr. and have this cked. out.  In 2000 I had pacemaker put in for many reasons which I will not go in to.  I had edema, like you.  Two days after implantaion of pacemaker I began to pass blood.  I had a blood clot that somehow blocked my large intestine.  This is extremely rare and I would not attempt to guess w/you.  Definitely suggest you see Dr. ASAP.
