st depression

At my regular checkup, my doctor said my ekg had an st depression and he wants me to take a Stress test.
My concern is that I was extremely anxious during the ekg -- my heart rate, normally 60 was at 93. Doctors offices make me panic so I was panicked!
Also I take toprol for high blood pressure. it's under control. I'm 49, haven't had a cigarette in 15 years, don't drink. am not overweight (148 lbs)
I don't want to go down the rabbit hole with testing and wonder if the st business had to do with my anxiety or medication.  Any ideas anyone?

Thank you very much for the answers.  I will be sure to drink lots in between now and stress test.

Just to add though. The EKG has picked up abnormalities with the electrical pulses across your Heart. If the cause is dehydration, this is easily resolved. If you are dehydrated, then you will probably struggle during a stress test.

thanks for answer.  my blood work was normal but showed dehydration.  Could that have effected it do you think?  Also I had a little fever (99.5)-- he said I was probably fighting something off.

Personally I think that if you have ST Depression in your EKG, your Doctor would be irresponsible if he didn't send you for further testing. If something is abnormal in a test, it should be investigated to achieve the correct diagnosis. A heart rate of 93 is not what I would personally class as high. However, there are other reasons why ST Depression can occur, such as an electrolyte imbalance, so blood tests are also in order. You may very well get through the stress test with no problems but I would certainly have the test.
