sudden dizziness and fatigue 10yrs post CABG

Hi my husband who had a triple CABG 10yrs ago aged 44 has been experiencing dizziness/light headedness and fatigue symptoms over the past few weeks. Dizziness/lightheadedness and feeling that he is going to faint can come on at rest or when walking etc. These are similar symptoms to those he had when first diagnosed with CHD 10 years ago. Do you think it is likely that he is exhibiting cardiac symptoms again? There has been no angina pain associated with this although three weeks ago he did have chest pain when playing golf which was quite severe but he put it down to over exerting himself with his swing although I now have my doubts that it was that.He also has psoriasit arthritis diagnosed two years ago and has recently increased his dose of sulfasiazine so wondered if the light headedness would be due to this. Would appreciate any advice.

Just an update following my question earlier this week. Husband seen by cardiologist yesterday. Bloods taken, Stress ecg not possible due to raised BP, so MRI stress heart scan booked for saturday morning. Now has 24 hr ecg tape in situ and started on cardioprotective meds. Further review with cardiologist early next week, so the wheels are in motion! Thanks all

It is still better to be safe than sorry. Tell him if it is cardiac, then it's likely to be a blockage and they can resolve that.

Hi Ed
Thanks for comment. As mentioned to Ally I have done just that and he has a referal today. He is so scared of it being cardiac but ws pretty unwell yesterday so I have forced the issue. Interstinglywhen he feels unwell, faint, light headed, nauseous etc which he had three times yesterday, he does not have any typical signs of angina ie chest, arm, jaw pain etc. Will keep you posted

Hi Ally thanks for the response. In fact I took matters in to my own hands and have booked him an appointment with the cardiologist today and took him to see the family doctor last night. She thinks its cardiac symptoms also so at least the cardioogist can see him today. Thanks so much for the response will keep yu posted

I would just take him to the hospital and get his heart checked rather than wait for an appointment. I felt the same way just 3 months after my triple bypass (aged 47) and it was discovered that 2 of the three conduits were collapsed.
It could be nothing, but it isn't worth just leaving it and taking the risk.

When was the last time your husband had any cardiac testing or even follow up with his doctor? I would think this is something he needs to have evaluated.  Ally
