I know about heart rate recovery and that it is suppose to go down at least 12 BBM after stopping exercise. I have something that may be unusual happening to me but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. I am a male and 54 in decent shape. Just started getting into cardio training and I noticed that I can keep my heart rate at 125 to 130 for about 40 minutes...then as I cool down and slow the walk from 3.7 mph to about 2 mph my rate drops maybe 20 in a minute or two...NOT TOO BAD SO FAR. But this is the weird thing...after I stop completely and my heart may be showing 102 or so on the pulse meter....I watch it after I stop and keep my hands on the bars and the pulse gradually rises from about 102 back up to maybe 110 or 115...then slowly comes back down to under 100 within a couple of minutes. Why would my rate slow down fine during a slow cool down and then rise a little bit as I first stop completely? It's almost like an adrenaline release or possibly a vagal tyhing? Not sure. I know that I am not in the greatest conditon yet and am going slow to get in shape. I feel that this may improve with some time but I may also get this checked out. Thanks... I appreciate if anyone can give me any imput on this.
